Jaguar Land Rover Contract
When I left school I always wanted to train as a chef so I signed up to Worcester Tech and did four years in a GNVQ where I studied the front and back of house, I also ran a business degree along side. 21 years later and I’m still in the catering industry and have been very fortunate to have built a great career. After leaving college I worked in hotels running restaurants and conferencing, alongside this I also worked in the contract catering sector and event teams in any spare time I had. I wanted to gain as much experience in as many areas to truly understand what direction my career would take me in.
A few years into my career I took a role as training manager for Banks’s brewery where I developed managers ready to take on their own pubs. This opened many options for me and gave me great skills. After several years, I moved in to a project management within leisure running large mixed use leisure sites such as Xscape centres and West Midland Safari Park. This seemed a strange step from what I had been doing before however, I wanted to learn high volume sites, to understand the logistics of moving tens of thousands of people in a day and how to cater for all their needs. The experience was priceless and set me on course to my next role where I worked for the Lord and Lady of Hertford, this role took everything that I had done before and challenged every skill. I ran there 6000-acre family estate along with there family attraction and large indoor and outdoor events business.
As part of one of the regular events we held on the estate were Land Rover experience days’ members of the public would get the chance to go off road on one of the courses to experience a true off road drive. After doing many of these events I was drawn to a role to manage Gaydon, one of Jaguar Land Rovers largest design sites. I have been with JLR ever since and now look after their new projects and their exciting new expansions in catering services. I’m looking forward to this next chapter with Jaguar Land Rover and Compass partnership and the exciting challenges it will bring.
